broad branch market.

a
while eating junior mints for lunch earlier this afternoon, i found myself wishing i lived closer to broad branch market. and not just because the food is amazing -- and believe me, it is amazing -- but bc it feels like home. the market is nestled inside a lush neighborhood near chevy chase and is always surrounded by market-goers, kids, and (my fav) dogs. tracy, the mastermind behind bbm, has filled every corner of her market with charming personal touches. from walls of candy in antique crates, to gourmet dog biscuits, fresh flowers, and bbm onezies (made of organic cotton!) the market is brimming with warmth and fun. not to mention the staff’s smiling faces. it’s just a nice place to be.

i’m not the only one who feels this way -- last saturday bbm was loaded with frequent flyers, newbies, and lots and lots of kids. melissa gray, author of “all cakes considered” signed copies of her book, while kids decorated their own cupcakes, and parents enjoyed a yummy bbq.

nancy taylor, a market frequent, exclaimed, "broad branch market is a treasure! it is a gathering spot for our neighborhood. people of all ages collect to savor fabulous food, sweets, wine and community. we are lucky to have it!"

jon and i ate our fill, then did our best to capture the energy of the day -- here are a few of our favs!
