morgan + stefan | engaged!

a
my turn to narrate (jon): it's been a few months since i saw morgan in the halls of ceb. the moment morgan + stefan stepped in front of the camera outside eatbar (their first date), i could tell they were made for each other. nervous about having a lens in their face for 2 hours, they laughed uncomfortably at first and then started laughing at each other. it wasn’t long before uncomfortable laughter became fun. stefan joked, “you’re lucky i like kissing you,” as amber cheered kiss! for the hundredth time and morgan teased him for not being able to resist the urge to pose for the camera. i swear, stefan, modeling is your calling.

being able to meet couples like morgan + stefan is what makes it easy + fun for me to tag along on amber’s shoots. thanks, you two, for letting me tag along and congrats on the engagement!

enjoy amber's sneak peek below!

jeff + danielle | engaged!

a
i’ve known jeff and danielle for a while, and am always amazed by their compatibility -- they just fit. so it was no surprise to me that -- when jeff threw out the idea of a mall photo shoot -- danielle was hands down on board. we started in macy’s -- danielle and jeff donned matching track suits and piggy-backed each other around the jeans section. i'm sure it's not hard to imagine we were spotted within minutes -- jeff overheard someone calling security. so we booked it. like teenagers. thankfully we devised a back-up plan for this very reason, so we headed to cabin john park and played on the playground. i hope you enjoy their sneak peak below -- they’re an entertaining pair.

french fry in the nose...and the mouth.

a
"porky the litter eater" was terrifying. he speaks to you in a horrifying, deep voice and tells you to put cans in his mouth. if you don't believe me, watch this video.

a very diner sunday.

a
in the five years i’ve lived in dc, i’ve never once seen adams morgan in the morning light. erin and her family, on the other hand, frequent a-mo’s the diner so it made perfect sense we’d begin our shoot within it’s retro walls. josie enjoyed a stack of pancakes and i witnessed yet another first: homefries dipped in butter. then we headed into the humidity for rock creek park where josie rode her “tippy” bike, blew bubbles, and made mom touch slugs.

check out their sneak peek!

broad branch market.

a
while eating junior mints for lunch earlier this afternoon, i found myself wishing i lived closer to broad branch market. and not just because the food is amazing -- and believe me, it is amazing -- but bc it feels like home. the market is nestled inside a lush neighborhood near chevy chase and is always surrounded by market-goers, kids, and (my fav) dogs. tracy, the mastermind behind bbm, has filled every corner of her market with charming personal touches. from walls of candy in antique crates, to gourmet dog biscuits, fresh flowers, and bbm onezies (made of organic cotton!) the market is brimming with warmth and fun. not to mention the staff’s smiling faces. it’s just a nice place to be.

i’m not the only one who feels this way -- last saturday bbm was loaded with frequent flyers, newbies, and lots and lots of kids. melissa gray, author of “all cakes considered” signed copies of her book, while kids decorated their own cupcakes, and parents enjoyed a yummy bbq.

nancy taylor, a market frequent, exclaimed, "broad branch market is a treasure! it is a gathering spot for our neighborhood. people of all ages collect to savor fabulous food, sweets, wine and community. we are lucky to have it!"

jon and i ate our fill, then did our best to capture the energy of the day -- here are a few of our favs!
